Freckles and Moles: A Myth
Along time ago, no one in the world had freckles. Fashion was very limited, and surprisingly, people looked a lot alike without them. One day, a baby was born by Queen Altheda, queen of Sparta. This baby had many freckles all over his body. The Spartan people believed he was cursed, but the queen thought otherwise. She pronounced that freckles were the new fashion. Zeus Almighty heard her announcement and blessed a few babies born that year with freckles. They became the star of the fashion society, and great rulers.
By the end of the next month, everybody wanted freckles. Since Zeus had only blessed a few, the Spartan people got angry with him. Then one day in his workshop, a great inventor named Ioannes discovered a way for all people to have freckles. He invented a dye just the same pigmented color, but there was one disadvantage. Since it was man-made, it was like a lump that was raised a few millimeters.
Nobody cared, though. These moles, as Ioannes named them, were supposedly even better than the real freckles. People bought them in the thousands. Soon everybody in Sparta had freckles or moles, and no one could tell the difference. Queen Altheda then banned the “moles,” saying freckles were the real deal. By this time, it was too late. The paste used on the moles had stuck to people, so the queen ordered these people who had given in to be executed. By the time everyone was dead, only a few people were left. The executions became known as the “Operation Spartan Moles.” From then on, nobody ever wanted to have these, but Ioannes had not realized something. These lumps became part of your dna, and one man who had survived the massacre passed his moles down on through many generations.
The moral: take what nature gives you.

Re: Freckles and Moles: A Myth
Nice! I love all these "how-things-came-to-be" stories. Very well written. I attempted one of these in second grade. My scool was putting together a book of stories written by the students. But only the work of three students per class made it. Mine made it, but only because it was good for a second grader. But this one would have definitely made it! It's so good!
Re: Freckles and Moles: A Myth
I agree. I've always liked those kind of stories as well. One night I was climbing the ladder to bunk bed and just came to me. Very random!
Re: Freckles and Moles: A Myth
This was really good. I like stories with a moral too. Amazing Stuff!!
Re: Freckles and Moles: A Myth
That was good. It almost seems like a real myth. Hmm, it also seems like a very random topic. I mean, I don't think anything like this is on here. Very interesting...

I like it. Love these kind of stories. This one's different though!
