Re: Wing of an Angel
Caution. Ok, it's not that bad, but some boys might not want to read, just in case.
A full moon hovered over the hillside where the group had decided to camp, stars shinning down on the sleeping teens. Bran sat with his back against a boulder, staring into the fire everyone was laying around and poking it occasionally to keep it going. He glanced down beside him at Aimirgin curled up at his side, breathing gently. With his almost glowing skin and hair, he looked much like an angel as he slept the night away. Bran frowned as Aimirgin's brow furrowed and his mouth twisted into a scowl. "Uhh..." Feeling a sudden impulse to hold him close, Bran wrapped a hesitant arm around his shoulders and Aimirgin snuggled into his thigh. "Uunn... Warm..." Bran blushed madly. H-He is... so adorable... ah! He shook his head. Stop it! The guys will never let me live it down if I get caught with anything, so I have to be patient. For now. Aimirgin's nose nuzzled him so the bottom of Bran's turtle neck was pushed up, sending warm shivers up his spine. Oooh, god, he needs to stop before someone sees us! Bran squeezed his eyes shut quickly, face a light pink. His hands gripped the stick in his palm tighter as Aimirgin dropped off into a silent sleep, pulling his legs up so he slept in a ball on his mat. Bran opened one eye, then the other, sighing in relief. I can not wait for morning...

Re: Wing of an Angel
As the sun rose the next day, Bran woke to girlish giggling. He opened his eyes and blinked away sleep to find Sean and Livvy leaning over him in the morning sunlight. "Wha...?" Taking in his surroundings, he realized Aimirgin and him were curled up facing each other under the boulder, and that they had slept with Aimirgin's head under his chin. He blushed and scrambled away as Aimirgin smiled up at him. "Morning, Bran. Sleep well?" Bran scowled at the girls, turning and disappearing over the side of the cliff with the sun at his back. Aimirgin sighed and sat up on their two merged mats. "Did you girls have to wake him? He must be awefully embarassed." Sean shrugged. "Sorry, Aimy. He was just too cute!" Livvy took her camera from behnd her back. "Besides, these are my momentos. I'm taking every possible photo of you two I can so you can look back on this time with happiness!" Aimirgin laughed. "Just don't show him that camera," he rose to his feet. "I'm gonna go talk to him." Cadel and Stephan were busily preparing breakfast together, cooking the fish Stephan had caught over the fire.
Bran sat with his knees pulled to his chest on a large flat rock overlooking the small stream at the bottom of the hill, sunglasses long since forgotten in his pocket. The wind ruffled his messy black hair as he stared into space with dull blue eyes and crossed his arms over his knees. "Bran?" He whirled around to see Aimirgin standing in the grass beside the boulder, quickly turning his head away to face the water again. Aimirgin crawled up beside him and copied his postion on the hard rock. After a long pause, he sighed. "Bran, I'm sorry about Sean and Livvy. They go over the line with teasing sometimes." Bran hid his face in his arms. "Sometimes?" Aimirgin chuckled. "Ok, most of the time. But you can't blame them for teasing you this much, you know. It's not often they get a target that blushes so easily." Bran jerked his head up to glare at him, cheeks red. "Yeah, well, they don't need to tease people!" Aimirgin set his hand on his friends shoulder and he calmed down. "I understand why this gets to you so much, Bran." Bran leaned the side of his head on his arms so he still faced Aimirgin, eyes half-closed. Aimirgin brushed his fingers over Bran's pale cheek. "Come now, it's nothing to be ashamed of." Bran squeezed his eyes shut. "Says you." Aimirgin turned so kneeled next to Bran. "Hey, look at me, Bran." Bran dropped his arms to his sides and lifted his head to blink at him through damp eyes. Aimirgin smiled. "Now why are you crying?" Bran crammed his palms into his eyes to wipe away the tears. "Because I'm too weak! Too weak to accept anything, too weak to do anything." Aimirgin took both of his hands and lowered them so he could see his tear stained face. "You are not weak. You saved Livvy, Sean and I from a mad scientist and that take heart." Bran gritted his teeth. "I am weak! I can not accept what I feel for anyone, this friendship is not me, and especially not what I feel with yo-" he stopped himself. "You just make it worse." Aimirgin leaned close to him, "How's that?" Bran's blush spread to his whole face at the kind smile, his wrists still being held at his sides. "A-Aimirgin, I-I--" He stuttered. "I l-like you m-more then the others." Aimirgin leaned in closer. "Oh?" Bran fought against himself, "W-Well, I-I feel... different w-with you." Aimirgin hovered centemeters away from his face. "Tell me what you feel." Bran's heart pounded. He couldn't take it anymore! "Aimirgin, I-I don't know how!" Aimirgin kneeled between his legs. "Don't you?" The pressure was killing Bran. He stared into Aimirgin's hazel eyes, slowly leaning forward until their noses hovered almost right against each other. Hesitantly, Bran pressed his lips to Aimirgin's and squeezed his eyes shut as he pressed back. The moment seemed to last forever as his wrists were freed and he placed them beside him. The pair stayed together for a minute before parting and Aimirgin smiled down at Bran as he fell on his back on the boulder. "See? Was that so hard?" Bran stared up at him in shock. Aimirgin glanced behind him to see a frozen Cadel standing halfway up the hill, staring down at them with his ears back. Bran followed his gaze and gasped. "C-Cadel!" Cadel turned and ran back up the cliff, disappearing over the edge as Aimirgin helped Bran sit up. "I think he was just a bit suprised." Bran clung to him so he didn't fall over. "So was I!" Aimirgin smiled. "And?" Bran flushed pink. "Wow."

Re: Wing of an Angel
Aimirgin and Bran rejoined the group holding hands and stopping at the edge when they all began to stare at them. Bran shrank back at Cadel's accusing stare, but Aimirgin squeezed his hand and lead him over to their empty boulder spot. They sat down together and Livvy stepped up in front of them with her hands on her hips. "So? Is it true?" Aimirgin sighed. "Is what true?" Sean came up beside her. "What Cadel came up here jabbering hysterically, something about a kiss?" Bran's face flushed and he hid his face in his bangs, feeling the way Aimirgin's hand fit into his own like it belonged there. Aimirgin leaned over to see his face. "Bran?" Bran glanced up and nodded quickly. Livvy and Sean looked at each other. "Kyyyaaa!!!" They joined hands and jumped up and down. "We knew it! Yaaaay for Bran! Yaaaay for Aimy!" Bran blinked, watching them squeal. "U-Uh..." He spotted Cadel and Stephan out of the corner of his eye looking at him and turned to face his two companions. Cadel hung his head, but Stephan managed a half-hearted smile. Bran felt a pang of guilt. He rose to his feet and Aimirgin did as well. "Need some back up?" Bran took a deep breath. "No, thanks." He let go of Aimirgin's hand, gliding over to his two closest friends. "Cadel? Stephan?" They got up from the dirt and Stephan held out his hand. "Congrats, Bran." Bran stepped forward, putting an arm around both of their necks and hugging them. "Guys," he let them go, sighing. "I'm sorry I never told you, but I..." Stephan smiled gently. "We know. It must've been hard, keeping that secret all on your own." Cadel sniffed. "Why didn't you tell us, Bran?" Bran lowered his gaze. "Ashamed, I guess." He lifted his eyes to meet their's. "Didn't you ever once have a hunch?" Cadel nodded. "Yeah. As soon as you saved him from the glass cage, we had a feeling," Stephan nodded as well. "You two had a bond created in an instant that would take years to form if it had been anyone else." Bran was taken aback. "A-A bond is what you felt? From him and I?" The two exchanged glances. "Yeah." Bran smiled suddenly. "I guess so," he nudged them, "So, which one of you two chickens is gonna go for the girl first?" The pair blinked. Cadel blushed. "What?" Bran grinned. "Aw, come on. Who's going to take care of Livvy and Sean with Aimirgin with me?" Stephan flashed his teeth. "Well, Livvy is a dolphin, so I guess that rules her out for me. Cadel?" Cadel nodded vigorusly. "S-Sean is a cat, so I guess we could try something." Bran, Cadel and Stephan high-fived together. Bran grinned. "You guys rule."

Re: Wing of an Angel
Under a full moon, the grey clouds drifted with the cool breeze, the group of six clunking on the dock. Bran lead the group to the cargo boats, standing beside the floating ships. "Well, heres our ticket home." Aimirgin stepped up beside him. "Bran?" Bran turned to him. "Yeah? What is it?" Aimirgin noticed Bran no longer wore his sunglasses, revealing his blue eyes. "We, as in the rest of the group, want to stay in Ireland. The island sounds good, but they don't think they could live there for much longer, if at all. It's just too far away." Bran blinked. "Stay here? What about schooling? A place to live? This was our mission to bring you back to the island, Aimirgin!" Aimirgin set his hand on his friend's shoulder. "I know. But, it's what we voted on." Bran looked over at their friends. "What will we do? Where will we go?" Aimirgin smiled. "Thats the bright side, Bran! The sky is the limit!" Bran gazed at him. "Not for us." Aimirgin slid his hand into Bran's. "What do you say?" Bran felt the warm fingers brush the inside of his palm with a smile. "Alright. I guess we could try that. Knowing we always have a place to come back to, traveling would be a good experience for us." Aimirgin's eyes shone in the moonlight. "As long as we're together," he nodded twords their companions. "All of us, adventure awaits." Bran turned his gaze out over the water. "I..." Aimirgin frowned. "What is it?" Bran shook his head. "I know it's silly, but I left my friend Rose on the island. She loved adventure." Aimirgin cocked his head. "Girlfriend?" Bran blushed, shaking his head quickly. "N-No, but we were very close growing up. She was my neighbor, I just remembered." Aimirgin shrugged. "We could always fly over there and get her." Bran lowered his gaze. "No. Everyone used to tell me she had the biggest crush on me, so I don't know how she'll react to..." He squeezed Aimirgin's hand. "Us..." Aimirgin squeezed back. "Well, she'll never see you again if we don't." Bran felt a pang of guilt. "I know. I'm sure she can be happy without me, though. Rose had brains, looks, the works. She'll find someone else to make her happy." Aimirgin swept him behind a nearby crate tall enough to hide them, kissing him. He hugged his boyfriend close. "Becuase I get you, right?" Bran hid his pink face in Aimirgin's shoulder. "Uh huh." Livvy and Sean popped out of no where. "Come on, guys! We've got a long way to go!" The pair followed them back out to the beggining of the docks, holding hands as Cadel and Stephan grinned. "Yeah, lets go!" Bran swept his gaze over all of his friends, cheering and laughing together until his gaze rested on Aimirgin. With a smile, he realized their time together had only just stared. The journey has only begun.

Thank you very much. This is the only story I've ever finished, actually...

Re: Wing of an Angel
I just finshed this story, it's so cute and interesting! I loved it! Bran and Aimirgin are so cute! Though I do feel bad for Rose, she's left out on the whole adventure. Anyway, that was an amazing story! Congrats on completing your first completed story!
Ha, I knew it! I knew Mysterious Writer knew you, though for a while, I thought he was you and he is a good writer!

*blinks* Mystery Writer? Sounds like him. I only know him over the internet, and no one knows how old he is, but he loves anime like we do. He's Subaru Shirou in Dylan Morgan forum.
Thank you, I can not beleive I actually finished this one and none of my others... They were a bit more original...

*claps*
Excellent story! But...
*frowns*
You need to space them out. After a new person starts talking, start a new paragraph. It makes it neater and easier to read.

Re: Wing of an Angel
Let me guess...you like the "Maximum Ride" novels?
I don't understand this story. I read each installment, and my confusion grew with each one: There's flying kids on an island off of Scotland, who have no parents (Created by experimentation?), but somehow have a school that teaches them biology and choir? Why? WHat is the point of a school for winged people, besides a plot device to exhibit Bran's personality and to be a familiar setting for younger readers?
"None of them had real parents. Sometimes he wondered why, but decided not to question it."
Not to question it? Has he not wondered about parents since he was younger? Has he never before wondered this? But then Bran seems a little unreal all together:
"Almost every girl in his school had a crush on him because of them and giggled in their little groups when they passed him...."
A stoic, brooding, apathetic bad-boy kind of character. Too many of his kind populate every teen story from Dramacon to Twilight. He is a stereotype, another anti-hero that we've all seen again, and a third time. But he's got a soft side; saving the poor kid from getting beat up by bullies.
There's nothing new with this story: THe main character, the school, the actions. Throw wings on everyone's back and you've haven't got a story quite yet.
"...pink VANS..."
How were designer shoes shipped to the island? How were Pop-Tarts shipped there? I thought the location and existence of the island was supposed to be secret?
Why would the COuncil (There's always an all-powerful Council) send a 'schoolboy' instead of an adult to bring back this captured angel? Why would he bring his friends with him, risking further exposure of his people? How did a newspaper blow all the way from America (Where the FBI operates exclusively) to a Scottish isle?
I think you tried to get the best of both worlds: A fantasy story set with winged people, and a school drama. Throw them together, and you've got something...that doesn't fit. If this is based off of David Patteron's series, I have a larger rant to go on (Bird-hybrids, wolf-hybrids sound awfully familiar).
I don't know quite what to make of this.

Re: Wing of an Angel
I don't have anything more to say about the story since I'm rather sure I've already offered my input I just wanted to comment on the post above this one.....it's James Patterson who wrote Maximum Ride, not David Patterson
Re: Wing of an Angel
Sorry about the Patterson thing. Got mixed up with the author of the "Sixth Target" series, or whatever they're called.
