Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
I say you exactly like I would say the letter u. I think that would be y-oo.

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
I guess I kinda get it, but like... I dunno. They all have the general 'oo' sound, in my mind. xP

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
Pfft, you're in the South, Tim? xP
AND I HAVE ONE.
Not really a pronunciation, however.
So, you know the things on your dresser that you open and close to get your clothes from? Yeah. What do you call those.

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
...Am I the only weirdo, then?
I call them draws.
And everyone is always like, "What? Repeat that. OH! You mean drawers?"

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
That sounds like the ghetto way of saying drawers. xD

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
Draws? Hahaha that would confuse me too.
I say drawers. Droors is basically what it sounds like.
Well you're all south in my POV

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
...BP, was that supposed to be humorous? xD
I HAD ONE EARLIER--
GOT IT.
Barbara. The name, yeah.
It's my bus-drivers name, and I hear some different variations of it.
Bar-br-uh
Bar-br-ah
Bar-bar-ah
Bar-bar-uh
etc, etc.

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
Bar-br-uh. That's how I pronounce it if I see it written. If the person is introducing herself to me and pronounces it different then I call her that.
Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
Bar-br-uh is the only way I've ever heard it pronounced.
Same with Deborah. My boss' name is spelled Debrah, so there's no doubt about that one at least. :P

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
Bar-ber-a
Maybe not a really clear sound on the second syllable, but it's still there.
Aftermath.
After- mar-th
After- mah-th
I say the second, but a couple of other people say it the first way.
Mosquito
Mos-kee-toe
Mos-kwee-toe
I said it the second way and my friends said it was adorable... then said they pronounced it the other way.
Giraffe
Jir-ah-ffe
Jir-ar-ffe
I say the second.
I had some other ones... but I forgot. Dx

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
That's what I do, Hazel.
So words that are said differently than they are spelled often confuse me. xD
Oh, and I can't say the word 'specific'/'specifically'.
After-math.
Jir-ah-ffe.
Mos-kee-toe.

Re: The Pronunciations Thread!
Yeah it just makes sense, though I suppose there are exceptions.
