Daily Poetry

My hope is to write and post a poem each day. I have certain standards in which I will be dealing with each time, dunno how that'll play out though.

Standards:
-Given subject that I must incorporate somehow
-Set time, usually 10-12 minutes.

We used to do this is my english class as a sophomore and its a great idea, really.

[EDIT] I also may edit them because keep in mind, these are just quick rough drafts of poems because of the timing. We'll see how things play out.

Subject: Identifiable face in clouds
Time: 12 minutes (+1)
Date: Friday, May 18th, 2013

Sister

They say humans are great at identifying faces in object,
But I sat that’s ridiculous.
I look up to the bright sky,
Cranes fluttering in the shapes of V’s, mocking my incapability to fly
But I laugh at them for I can fly, and fly I do,
Souring through the knowledge that does not guide me but rather I guide it.

This is what you taught me.

You held me down, leaping my glass feet steady on the cold, limestone ground below me,
Pulling me down to cave me into the vast arena of the unknown.

You also dropped me, on my head –
Something I can blame for the more obvious incapability I have
Not because I can but because you are so easy to blame.

You are my punching bag that takes every pound of
Right hook – left hook – upper cut
You can but you refuse to break of bust because you are strong
And not just the outside skin but inside –
Inside where your heart lays,
That very hears that slaps me in the name of love,
Blood included.

You make me laugh every time you said the finest words in the English language -
“PJ Funnybunny” –
And even if you could get all the way through the phrase.
You made me cry with locking my room
Or tormenting me to eat those darn watermelon seeds
Or you’ll turn in to "Benrita" – the 6 year old girl.

But most of all, you are my emotion that carries with the 7 winds,
Plus one when I let one out
And I laugh because you laugh.

So when I look up to the sky today, searching for someone amongst the clouds,
I won’t see anybody but you, sister.
Not because you’re on my mind,
But because you are my mind.
