I Want To Be Wanted

I hate that you love me when your drunk
Only after drinking will you say
You love me, talking about what you want
From me, saying I'm your boy and that
We will stay together only if I stay the rock
On which you lay your drunken head.
You use me, need me, like the beer that makes you talk -
And fight - all night.
I used to refuse your abuse,
To say, "You're wrong; this isn't right,"
Now I'm just tired of smiling
All the time at your bad jokes
Pretending each time you laugh at me
That it doesn't hurt.
I need to leave, to make sure I can stand alone.
I'll make my place
Out in the world and move passed tis disgrace.
