Dark One Night
Random idea.

Darkness blanketed the forest. The sounds of night echo off the trees and outline the stock-still underbrush. A full moon hung high overhead, glowing a bright orange, like that of a moon of vampires and werewolves, only once every year, on Halloween night. A girl sat on a boulder beside a wide river, indian-style on the cold stone. Her pale skin almost glowed in the moonlight as she basked with both sharp red eyes closed in relaxation. Long black hair tied back in a pony-tail flowed out behind her, a dress slim and same in colour covering her curves. She sighed happily. It was almost time for her to hunt again, vampires could only go so long without blood.
A boy sat crouched in an oak tree behind the girl's rock, high in it's branches and glaring at her beauty. His hard golden eyes were locked on her face, spikey bronze hair blending in with the tree's dieing leaves. A black turtle-neck rose up to under his chin and the cut-off sleeves spiked over skinny pale arms and black jeans hugged his long legs. The boy was about fourteen, with slender hands gripping the branch beneath him and a smooth pale face that shone almost as bright as the moon. More like a girl with the figure and posture, he was always teased of being a bastard in drag. Bitterness welled up in his chest. He hated them. All of them. With their fangs, claws, their beauty that had killed both of his parents. The boy was Kyo Ginto, orphan and bounty hunter of vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural things.

Kyo leapt from the tree, landing gracefully on the ground beside the girl's rock, unsheathing his sword with a skull surrounding the handle. He struck a fight position, growling at her, "Face me, leech!" The girl turned slowly, smiling at him, and opened her eyes. Kyo was taken aback. He had found it easy to hate all vampires, but the look she was giving him...
Rena turned to the boy standing before her, smiling kindly. She held out her hand, "Come, sit. What is your name?" Kyo found himself being tugged to her side, resheathing his sword. He fought it and pulled back. "Like you'd care, leech!" He snarled. Rena dropped her hand, rising to her full height and gliding over to stand in front of him. Kyo's heart beat sped up as she compared levels with him. They were the same height. Rena listened to his heart for a second, then took a step so she was inches from his trembling form, using her finger to lift his chin. He flinched at her cold skin, struggling to pull away with no success.
Rena smiled once again, reading his memories, "I see you have had a hard life dealing with my kind. They have all been cruel to you." Kyo's eyes began to lose focus, and still he fought, "Yeah, with things like you!" Rena laughed a light, tinkling bell laugh that made his anger fade and only confusion left in his head, "I know thats how you must feel, but I don't eat humans. Your battle is not with me." Kyo sank to the ground as she stepped away, taking her force with her. Rena kneeled in front of him, "What is your name, my friend?" Kyo had to hold himself up with both hands, so he couldn't push her away as she leaned forward, "K-Kyo." He managed. Rena cocked her head, "Kyo. What a handsome name for such a special human. I am Rena." Kyo's arms began to shake with effort. She had her powers pressing down on him again, "I'm nothing special." Rena reached out a hand and stroaked the side of his face, and he felt strength flood back into his limbs, "Very mature, though, I see. You have been preparing to kill everyone of my kind for years. Have I confused you?" Kyo sat up and studied her. His sensative nose caught the scent of animal blood only in her breath, nothing human involved. He struggled into a sitting position, "Rena, is it?"

Rena and Kyo sat in the grass a few hours later, talking. Kyo crossed his arms, "So... Why don't you eat humans?" Rena flicked a peice of invisible dirt from under her nail, "I am a vegan. No human blood in my diet, just to be kind." Kyo thought for a second, leaving her to notice dark bags under his eyes. Rena blinked, "Aren't you exausted? You have been traveling for days without sleep."
Kyo snapped from his trnce, looking up at her, "Well, you get used to it after awhile. I'm sure I'll sleep for weeks after this." Rena hinted the disappointment in his voice, "You came all this way to kill me?" She asked. Kyo took out a red lolipop and peeled the wrappings off, sticking it into his mouth, "Well, thats what I'm doing with all vampires." Rena nodded slowly, catching something strange in the candy treat.
She narrowed her eyes suddenly, "Where did you get those candies?" Kyo moved the stick to the other side of his mouth, cocking an eyebrow at her, "My grandfather gave me a huge supply to keep me awake. Why?" Rena shook her head, "Nevermind. I guess I need to hunt. Well," She rose swiftly, turning to the trees, "I hope your journey to rid the world of evil vampires goes smoothly, and I hope to see you again, Kyo." Kyo scrambled up, "What, you're leaving?" Rena smiled gently, "Kyo, I will see you again." Kyo reached out a hand, but she was already gone. He let his arm drop.

Re: Dark One Night
Walking with his black backpack over one shoulder and both hands in his pockets, Kyo glanced around, smiling in releif when a house came into view. Heading closer to it, he saw it was part of a village. Black shoes skimming the surface of the dirt path leading through the houses, Kyo knocked on one of the doors. The door slid open and a little girl around seven looked up at him with big green eyes and long blonde hair down to her ankles, eyes widening, "Mommy, theres another one!" She cried, slamming the door in his face, "Another vampire, mommy!" Her cries echoed through the paper walls. Kyo froze, staring at the closed door. He slowly hid his eyes in his bangs and turned away, continuing down the street. Spying a ramen shop, he ducked inside and slid into a seat, dropping his pack beside him. The place was just a counter with chopsticks and a grill behind it. The worker girl leaned her elbows on the wood in front of him, "What'll it be?" Kyo looked up into her bright blue eyes solemly, expression blank, "Beef ramen. No onions."
The girl frowned, shoulder-length brown hair tied back in a pony tail, "Alright. Hey," She turned to prepare his dish, "Who are you? I've never seen such a face around here before." Kyo took a pocket watch out and clicked it open, "Kyo. I'm a traveling bounty hunter." The girl sighed, "So you've heard about the attacks?" Kyo pocketed his watch, "Yeah. I'm going to wait until it comes back again, then I'll get rid of it for you." The girl spun around neatly with his bowl and set it in front of him, "We have a pretty big reward for whoever can do that job, what'll you do with all of that money?" Kyo shrugged, picking up a pair of chopsticks and going to work on the food, "I don't know. Buy food and clothing, probrably." The girl crossed her arms, studying him, "Many of our strongest villagers have tried and died. What makes you so special?" Kyo finished off the noodles and vegetables in seconds, draining the bowl and setting his money on the counter and standing up, "A vampire thinks I'm special. That must mean something." The girl gaped. "You eat like a bottomless pit!" Kyo tipped his chin at her, disappearing out the door, "See you, then."

Re: Dark One Night
Kyo sat against a tree amoung tall blades of grass on a boulder, leaning back against it's trunk and crossing his arms, lolipop stick sticking out of his mouth. He watched through bronze bangs as birds fluttered every once and awhile and butterflies hovered passed his nose. Pack beside him, Kyo heaved a sigh. No one had beleived him human, even with a pulse.
He relaxed in the warm sunlight and closed his eyes, a splash from the pond beside him attracting his attention. Suddenly, he opened his eyes to the same girl sitting on the opposite side of the pond, fishing and staring at him. He noticed for the first time she had on a tight blue turtle-neck and tan slacks, brown open foot shoes crossed indian-style at the ankles in the grass. She smiled, "Hey, you're awake." Kyo smiled back half-heartedly, "Hey. How are you so quiet?" The girl shrugged, "A talent of mine. What about you? Where are you staying?" Kyo turned his head to face her, "I'm camping out here. What's your name, anyway?" The girl shifted her rod into her left hand, "Nicole. You?" Kyo slid his lolipop out of his mouth, "Kyo. Do you live here?" Nicole shook her head, brown bangs swishing and pony tail shimmering, "I'm a traveler too. I work as a chef in local villagers to help me along. Where you headed?" Kyo sighed again, "No where. Just wandering. Looking for things to kill, you know." Nicole jerked neatly on her rod as it dipped into the water, pulling out a small trout, "Well, dinner's on me, I guess."
Nicole and Kyo stood together next to a fire near the pond, cleaning up from their meal. Kyo yawned, rubbing the bags under his eyes as he held a wine cup in his hand. Nicole snatched it from him, "Be careful, you could drop it! What's the matter, anyway? It's barely sundown!" Kyo sat down on his sleeping mat, rubbing his head, "Every two weeks I pass out from six until eight the next morning, even if I don't stay up until then." Nicole finished the last of the dishes and sat beside him, "So, you just sorta pass out?" Kyo eyed her, "Why?" Nicole huffed, "Because I'm worried, you doof! Ya think I'll put you in one of my dresses in your sleep? Not gonna happen!" Kyo's expression softened, "Yeah, I just sorta fall over and I'm out." Nicole opened her own mat beside his, sliding onto it and using her pack as a pillow, "Well, that leaves sneak-attack defense to me, then? Great." Kyo chuckled, laying down facing away from her, "Looks like it."

Re: Dark One Night
Kyo stood in a white cloud, strangly calm as he searched for a doorway of some kind. Suddenly, flashes of his happy parents appeared before him. His only memory of them. Playing with him out in the forest, him petting his dog Whisper. Kyo shouted out as the evil vampire that had killed them approached behind them, but they couldn't hear him. He screamed and screamed, but nothing came out. Then sharp claws ripped through their throats, sending bright red blood gushing all over him. He looked down at his hands cacked in his parents' blood and froze in place. The vampire's gleaming red eyes glared down at him, closely resembling his own glare at vampires now, and knocked him over onto the ground. The last thing Kyo remembered was desperate fangs sinking into his neck and several seconds of intoxicating pain, before the teeth slid away and went limp on the ground. It was dead.
"No...!" Kyo's eyes flew open and he sat bolt-upright, panting and paniced. His hands reached up shakily, rubbing his neck as he stared down at the ground. Nicole ran over to him, kneeling beside him and setting her hands on the sides of his face, "Kyo? Kyo, what is it?" Kyo's eyes jerked up to her's and his breathing returned to normal at her deep, light blue, worried gaze. He let his shoulders slumped, "N-Nothing. I'm okay." Nicole studied his pale face and trembling hands, "No, you're not," she sat beside him, "Tell me." Kyo's hand covered the black infinity scarr the vampire had left that night when he had turned thirteen, closing his eyes and hanging his head, "It was just a nightmare." Nicole set her hand on his shoulder, "Kyo, please tell me." Kyo rose to his feet, ashamed now, and began to pack away his things, "I'm fine." He said firmly as she stood up beside him. Nicole gave up, shouldering her pack as well and turning to the village, "The vampire usually strikes at midnight on Saturdays, so tonight he should be here." Kyo nodded, solem now, "Alright. I'm going to stock up on supplies, what about you?" Nicole strode up to stand at his side, "I'll go with you."

Re: Dark One Night
Kyo and Nicole strode through the thin crowd of people towords the supermarket, sneakers taptaping on the wooden sidewalk as they approached the empty building. The hair on the back of Kyo's neck stood stright up suddenly and he stopped, holding Nicole back with one hand, "Wait." She scanned the area with her sharp eyes, keeping a safe distance from any shadows as Kyo sniffed the tense air, "There's nothing I can see. What about you?" Kyo slowly lifted his hand to her arm, yanking her down to the ground as a metal arrow the shape of a dagger flew passed their heads and thudded into a tree behind them, "A vampire!"
His echoing voice rang out across the small town. Nicole followed him as he darted behind another tree, "In the daylight?!" He motioned for her to stay where she was and hopped up into the tree, another one clinging into a branch to his left, sending leaves flying. Kyo studied it thuroughly without moving. It was made of light steel, handcrafted too. Heavy for sure and had poison loaded in the tips. He turned his gaze to peer through the leaves again, solem and silent, and gasped. It wasn't a vampire shooting at them! A boy around fourteen knelt on the roof of the market, holding a crossbow with an arrow loaded and pointed at him. With pale skin and slim features, he looked about an inch taller then Kyo, with a resolute jaw and a proud grip. His down-spiked red hair reached to about his nose, in all directions but up, and bedroom violet eyes shone with determination from under the sharp bangs. Kyo almost fell out of the tree. The kid looked like a vampire himself! "Hey, you out there! Cease fire, we're human too!" Another arrow, on the other side of his head this time, "Silence, blood sucker! I know when you're lying!" Kyo groaned. Just like with himself, he needed to prove his humanity. He lowered himself out of the tree, motioning for Nicole, "Please listen to us! We're travelers hunting vampires ourselves, and that death poison in your arrows will do nothing to us!" Kyo's hands twitched as Nicole stepped forward, "You! What is your name?"

Re: Dark One Night
The boy's arms stiffened, eyes wandering over Nicole swiftly, in silence, as his hair rustled in the light breeze. Finally, he lowered his bow and started to tuck it behind him, but when his gaze locked onto Kyo's gold eyes staring back to him, he slid it under his arm. He hopped down to the ground with ease and landed in a kneel as Kyo and Nicole relaxed a little. Kyo let Nicole step up beside him now, her wearing a kind smile and him a solem frown, as the young man their age rose slowly to meet them levely. There was a long pause, then Kyo cleared his throat quietly, "What is your name?" He repeated.
Re: Dark One Night
I am so sorry, but you do need to space it out. Such as when you move onto another subject, time, or setting. You also need to make another paragraph whenever someone different speaks. Overall, an excellent story.

Re: Dark One Night
The boy's eyes yanked themselves from me to Nicole and he bowed, enough to keep an eye on me, but enough create a slight spark in her eyes,
"I am Vic Mignogna, archer from Celeise,"
He straightened up and smiled like a prince,
"May I ask the name of you, my lady?"
Nicole's cheeks flushed light red, making me steam,
"I-I'm Nicole, Vic."
This arrogant, handsom, aloof boy did something that shoved me violently over my limit. He took one of her hands and kissed the back of it,
"What a lovely name."
Nicole's face was full red now.
The wind blew around our trio,
"Why are you here?" I growled.
Vic turned to me with a smirk, purple eyes gleaming with curiosity,
"Same as you, hunting the leeches."
I glared at him venomously.
Nicole stepped in front of me, blocking our view of each other,
"O-Ok, then, why don't you join us for dinner? We just need to stock up on supplies, and I can make us something." I bristled, but Princy nodded politly,
"I'd love too. Need help carrying anything?" Nicole curtsied a little,
"Thank you kindly, sir, but I think I can handle it."
She stretched her foot behind her and gave my ankle a nudge.
My knuckles turned white, I was clenching my fists so hard,
"I'll take you back to our camp,"
I managed through gritted teeth.
Vic's smile sent spikes through my blood stream and curdled my nails.
"Alright. But do you think it'll be safe for..."
His eyes wandered to Nicole.
I smiled a cruel smile,
"She can take good care of herself for a few minutes."
His eyebrow raised as Nicole flicked my forehead,
"Be nice! He could help us out tonight!"
She whispered.
I relaxed my muscles enough to look friendly and took a deep breath as she disappeared through the market door.

Re: Dark One Night
I nodded, "Sure, just walk and talk at the same time."
Vic nodded back, following me over the grass towords the campsite,
"Alright. Kyo, was it?"
I mumbled something.
He fell into unison pace beside me,
"Are you an Unnatural?"
I looked at him. An unnatural was someone with one inhuman power or ability. I had several, so I really wasn't sure, but by the look on his face I could tell he was out for something.
"Why? Are you?"
He held up his hand and conjured blue fire into a small flame,
"Yes. An Ice Demon. You?"
I shrugged, hopping over a dead log,
"I don't really know. My parents hunted vampires, and they died before I turned seven."
Vic studied me strangely.
"Alright then."
We walked in silence until we reached camp.

One word irked me for some odd reason. I don't know why...
I guess I could say what I said before... So, I will!
